Transcript of a statement by South Feather's Legal Counsel at South Feather Water and Power Board Agency in Oroville meeting on September 9, 2024.
When Paul Boylan, North Yuba's legal counsel, claimed credit for the $6.7 million power sharing agreement payout from South Feather, North Yuba Water District Director Furnee and a Yuba County Supervisor Jon Messick were quick to spread the word.
South Feather's legal counsel Dustin Cooper (Mr. Boylan's counterpart) disagreed. At South Feather's September board meeting, he stated this was "entirely a fabrication." This "false narrative" is being perpetuated by "elected officials in Yuba County." It is quite out of the ordinary for a public agency to call out elected officials this way, but there it is.
Mr. Cooper is with Minasian Law in Oroville, a highly respected law firm on matters of water law.
Mr. Cooper said, "What is going on now is literally the most inefficient way to resolve a dispute...". As of September 2024, the North Yuba Water District has paid out $535,000 to Mr. Boylan.
If the District will fabricate a false narrative like this, it begs the question what other false narratives might there be?List of items posted on North Yuba Water District public record documents
